The next Kidz Klub will be on Saturday 24th November, from 10.30 am to 12 noon at St Andrew's URC church in Watling Street, opposite the multi-storey car park.

Kidz Klub this Saturday will be different with an opportunity to use some bongo drums.

Parents/Carers - if you are bringing your child(ren) why not drop into the cafe for a free tea or coffee? We look forward to seeing you.

Last term we raised £110 to help build a girls' boarding house for a school in Juba, South Sudan. This will give the girls a safe environment in which to study so that they can play their part in developing world's newest country.

This term our theme is "On Safari" and our charity is the Aspinall Foundation Back to the Wild appeal.

Kidz Klub started in 2001 at All Saints' Church, Canterbury. In October 2004, with the support of eight churches, Canterbury Kidz Klub went City-wide. A Board of Trustees was set up representing six of the churches and charitable status was granted by the Charity Commissioners on 28th December 2006. Our charity registration number is 1117405.

Last Saturday we had the story of John the Baptist. John’s clothes were woven from coarse camel hair, and he wore a leather belt around his waist. For food he ate locusts and wild honey. Not exactly Macdonalds!

He was telling people that they should stop doing what is wrong and change their lifestyle to become better people. If they agreed with this he would baptise them in the river Jordan as a sign that they were washed clean.

But John also had an important role. He was announcing that Jesus would be coming and would be much greater than John. People should get ready for Jesus.

The café runs from 10:30 to 12 noon while Kidz Klub is running. It's an area for parents to relax with a cup of tea or coffee and a cake or a biscuit.

The café is also a place where our invited guests can stay to watch Kidz Klub in operation.

Please note that all parents and guests have to sign in at reception. Kidz Klub children are not permitted in the café and parents and guests are not permitted in the main part of the building during Kidz Klub. This is in line with our Child Protection policy.

Peter

Peter is a Trustee and also helps out on Saturdays. He has taken on the role of Treasurer until another volunteer comes along.

We have plenty of fun with games. Some of them can be messy! The pantomime is also great to watch. Sometimes it's really noisy and then sometimes it's really quiet and peaceful.

We run a number of bus routes to pick up the children and return them to the same location. Details of the bus routes are printed on the weekly colouring sheets.

Back to the Wild

We are supporting the Aspinall Foundation "Back to the Wild" project for the autumn of 2012. The aim of the project is to raise £10,000 to help The Aspinall Foundation return nine critically endangered primates, Javan langurs and Javan gibbons, back to protected areas of their natural habitat.
